Back to the 6th AFCEN international conference

The 6th edition of the AFCEN international conference was held on 23 and 24 March, focusing on AFCEN’s 40 years of experience to prepare the future of the nuclear industry.

On this occasion, AFCEN celebrated its 40th anniversary.

The conference was held despite the difficult public health situation by employing a 100% digital format. More than 190 participants took part remotely.

The plenary session highlighted AFCEN’s role, since its creation in 1980, in the nuclear industry in France as well as abroad.

The key players in projects involving the operating plants and those under construction such as HPC, and EPR2 both witness to the significance of AFCEN codes for their projects. The director of development for international projects and the director of the Excell plan described their expectations for the future.

Laurent Thieffry, AFCEN’s president, concluded the plenary session by stressing that all interested parties show that AFCEN, through its codes, has defined a common language in the nuclear industry. This common language must be used with full control over everyone’s roles and responsibilities (operator, architect and designer, manufacturers, nuclear safety authority, AFCEN experts).

In the technical sessions, each of the sub-committee held its own programme of presentations and debates with experts and participants.
